About Me

Hi! I'm Kayleigh (she/her), I'm a 25 year old photographer and occasional bookbinder from Cornwall, UK currently living in London. I primarily shoot landscapes and have a particular interest in exploring themes of folklore, myths & legends, the unexplained, and everything in between. Be that megaliths said to heal certain ailments, sightings of vampires in Highgate Cemetery or a good old fashioned haunted house. I'm a sceptic myself but have always had a fascination with these subjects, going hand in hand with my love of horror movies. It makes sense I'm drawn to this genre out of a desire to be comforted of my anxiety of what if something were to happen, and my want to believe there's at least -something- more than we know.
My interest in Photography started when I was picking my A-levels; unsure of what subjects I was into or good at yet, I chose Photography out of a want for a creative outlet. Here I learnt how expansive photography can be; I first took to surrealism and started (badly) experimenting and editing my photos, not really knowing what messages I was actually trying to convey at the time. My portfolio I developed over these 2 years got me into Arts University Plymouth (formerly Plymouth College of Arts) to study BA (Hons) Photography.
At university I learned more about the history of photography and applying research and meaning to your work. I started to get interested in looking at Photography as a narrative tool and researching into Cornish folklore, the horror genre as catharsis, and solipsism. I wrote my dissertation on Frankenstein as a representation of our fears throughout history and graduated in 2019 with a 2:1 grade.
