The Merry Maidens | A3 PORTRAIT Print
The Merry Maidens (Dawns Meyn in Cornish, likely meaning dance of stones/stone dance) is a neolithic stone circle consisting of nineteen standing stones based in a field in St Buryan, Cornwall. The legend goes that nineteen maidens were dancing to music from 2 pipers (unpictured: 2 standing stones nearby representing the pipers) on the sabbath day and were turned to stone as punishment.
